The second university centre
The city of Iași is Romania's second university centre. Five state universities operate here; the top two alone had over 37,000 students in the 2024–2025 academic year.
On this basis, international groups have built centres here: around 2,800 engineers in automotive electronics at Aumovio and over 2,000 employees at Amazon Development Center. Around 5,000 specialists work in the city-centre office cluster.
